Export situation of China's lighting industry in the first quarter of 2020
At present, with the global spread of covid-19 and the weakening of international economic growth, the overall growth of LED chips is slowing down under the general trend. In February 2020, under the influence of the epidemic, the sales of the LED industry chain in the domestic market were poor, while the overseas market was stable. In march, as the downstream customers started work and increased the production capacity, the consumption capacity and sales in the domestic market gradually recovered. However, the sales in the overseas market were not optimistic because the epidemic situation in the overseas market had not been completely controlled. As the two largest LED lighting markets in China, the European and American markets have now become the most severely affected areas, directly causing the suspension of LED foreign trade.
In the first quarter of 2020, the export value of China's lighting industry was us $7.429 billion, down 22.75% year on year.Historically, it was the weakest quarter since 2013.
In terms of export products, in addition to anti-epidemic and anti-epidemic related lighting products for scientific research and medical treatment, almost all other kinds of products experienced double-digit declines, among which the average export price of LED light source products increased.In terms of export market, the decline is also the main melody. The market situation in east Asia is better than that in Europe and America.In terms of export enterprises, most of the decline is inevitable, and some of them have responded in a timely manner. Those enterprises that have resumed work quickly have suffered relatively little negative impact.
Exports of LED lighting products reached us $4.848 billion, a record low since 2014, with a year-on-year decline of 24.34 percent. The decline was also unprecedented.
In the first quarter, the monthly situation showed that January was basically normal, and February was the most serious period of the epidemic in China, so the data dropped to the bottom. In march, the situation improved due to the resumption of work and production of enterprises.
1.Light source products:
On the whole, the decline of fluorescent lamp products is larger, so the overall proportion is reduced. The pattern of other products is relatively stable, and the replacement of LED light source for traditional light source is in a progressive stage.
2.Lighting products:
Main light products, including "chandeliers and electrical lighting fixtures on ceilings or walls", i.e. fixed lamps;"Electric table lamp, bedside lamp or floor lamp", movable lamps;"Complete sets of lights for Christmas trees";"Unlisted lamps and lighting devices", i.e. outdoor lamps and some LED lamps, etc.The export of these lighting products reflects the fundamental situation of national economic demand. With the continuous increase in the proportion of LED products, the export value now accounts for 60% of the total export value of lighting, which plays a decisive role in driving the overall export.In the first quarter of this year, the total export volume of these four HS coded lamps was 4.417 billion us dollars, a year-on-year decline of 22.4%, which is in line with the overall export volume of lighting products.
3: Export market
In the destination countries of LED lighting products export, the average decrease of the top 20 was 24.8%.Under the overall downward trend, the overall performance of the markets in east Asia, South Korea, southeast Asia and the Middle East is better than that in Europe and the United States. The decline in most Asian countries is less than 20%, among which Saudi Arabia and South Korea even achieved year-on-year growth, which is quite rare.In Europe and the us, by contrast, most have fallen by more than 30 per cent.
In the first quarter of 2020, exports of LED lighting products to the United States were about $1.035 billion, down nearly 30 percent year on year.Among them, the number of LED light sources was 197 million, down 19.1% year on year, and the amount was 252 million us dollars, down 35.9% year on year.The amount of LED lamps was $783 million, down 27.1% year on year.The decline of the us market is larger than the overall decline. Although China and the us reached the first phase of the agreement at the end of last year, and both sides have taken a series of measures to mitigate the impact of trade frictions, generally speaking, the trade frictions between China and the us still have a negative impact on the products exported to the US.
